“As a physiotherapist, the clinical Pilates course has been a valuable experience, highlighting the strong link between movement, rehabilitation, and functional improvement. Its focus on precise cueing, building muscle memory, and integrating with other physiotherapy techniques has expanded my approach to active rehabilitation. A key highlight of the course was its focus on effective cueing techniques. Verbal, tactile, and visual cues help teach proper movement patterns, ensuring clients use the right muscles and avoid compensations. This is especially valuable for patients recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic pain, where correcting poor movement habits is crucial. The course highlighted how controlled repetitive movements build muscle memory, a core principle in physiotherapy. In my opinion, clinical Pilates bridges the gap between passive treatments and active rehabilitation. It complements techniques like joint mobilizations, dry needling, and soft tissue release by reinforcing proper posture and movement after pain relief. Also, it helps patients progress from low-impact exercises to more advanced complicated motions. As a physiotherapist, by adding Pilates to my approach, I’m better equipped to support my clients towards recovery and improved function, believing that movement heals.
Thank you to the Indepth Physiotherapy team, especially Dani and Leah.
Best regards,
Maddie”
