What is it?

It is a project about YOU. That’s right, YOU. A customized project
designed for YOU, executed by YOU, motivated by YOU and getting
results because of YOU!

But first, why?

For my Pilates teacher training program, we were required to do a
research project. We had to pick a body, ANY body, and do 20 Pilates
sessions with them within a 3 month period to see how Pilates work changes them. I selected two people to do this project on -one of which you will see highlighted in THE PROJECTS - THE ZOE Project
( see separate post for deatils on Miss ZOE) and another - The JOEY
Project. Miss  Zoe, a dancer, had dance specific goals that she wanted
to work towards. Mr. Joey who had several co-morbidities, one of which a brain tumor - who had 10/10+++ back pain and whose goals were
more functional; wanted to be able to enjoy life with his wife and four
daughters without constantly being in pain or fatiguing. Two very
different goals.

ONE treatment approach: Pilates.

While the ZOE project is still in progress, the JOEY project has completed his 20 sessions and outcome measures have been retested.

The results?

INSPIRING and AMAZING. I was IN AWE of the results- not only did he
improve substantially in his overall strength, but his balance improved
SIXTEEN points on the Berg Balance Scale (whereas a mere 8 is
considered significant). He was walking without a cane in the studio, he was able to make symmetrical movement with all 4 limbs (something not attainable at the first session), he was even able to get down and back
up from the floor without using his hands. This was incredible.

I was sad the research project was coming to an end…or did it have to end?

I needed to keep this going- better yet, CONTINUE doing this PROJECT over and over but with new bodies, new goals, new inspiration.

And so THE PROJECTS became ‘a thing’. Something I am super passionate about and now starting on two other people over the next few weeks. Stay tuned as I post on THE ZOE PROJECT, THE ESTELLA PROJECT and THE REBECCA PROJECT. Three keen, young dancers who are
motivated to take their dancing- and their conditioning- to the
next level.

With each PROJECT, I am aiming to include (pending their consent):

• A feature sheet/ blog post on the featured dancer/ athlete/ wonderful human!

• Their story: who are they, top three goals, what they hope to gain from the program

• Their baseline measures (*these may vary depending on their demographic and what outcome measures would be appropriate to track their
chosen goals)

• Commitment level options: monthly, bi-monthly, weekly sessions

• Program Length options: 3mo, 6mo, 1yr

• Status updates/ mid and post program measurements

• Inspiration!!! To always keep growing, push themselves further, and be proud of any and all accomplishments- no matter how big
or small the gains!

If you need a push to achieve that long time goal, or have been looking for a long term program that is designed and catered for YOUR body,
YOUR needs and YOUR schedule, THE PROJECTS is waiting for you! If you are inspired by these stories, and keen to learn and WORK to
achieve your goals, please email me YOUR story and why you would be a good fit for THE PROJECTS. I would LOVE to hear YOUR STORY and help you on YOUR journey.

It’s never too late. If you believe, you WILL achieve. All you need is the WILL.

…here’s to always searching for a new project,
